Wish List
There are so many things I want to try to make I thought I would make a list to keep track of them. I love making lists and then crossing things off as I complete them so I think this should get me started on attempting all those dishes I have been thinking about.

My mom gave me a good pizza dough recipe. It has your archenemy YEAST!!! I tried it on the weekend and as you know me and baking don't really mix. The prep is time consuming but I couldn't believe how wonderful my pizza dough turned out. If you want I can email you the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI think my problem is the temperature of the water for the yeast. Send me the recipe and I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteIn the last month I have tried 2 recipes..one with yeast which was horrible. I did something wrong b/c the dough didn't rise. The second one was without yeast and it was too thick and dry.
I'm very bad with dough stuff. But I could not believe how nicely my dough rose! i was so happy! I did a little happy dance in my kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI'll email it to you now.
its been agaes since i made my own pizzas, hardly get time now with the kids, but i used to do it alot, and the secret to getting the dough to rise is to make sure the water is TEPID, neither hot nor cold, about lukewarm temperature. if its boiling, it would kill the yeast and stop it from rising. once the dough is made i would alway out in a bowl, cover with cling film and keep in awarm place, which would help the dough to rise. hope that helps

Nausheen: I was thinking water temperature is probably my problem. I bought a thermometer for the next time I try it. Can I over knead dough? I don't know if maybe I'm overkneading it....I found a really quick pizza dough recipe recently. Inshallah I will post soon so maybe you can start making pizzas again soon!
ReplyDeletei dont know to be honest. would always mix my ingredients in a food procesor, then take them out and out the dough on a floured surface and knead. if the dough was too wet then i would add a bit of flour to it to stop it sticking. anyyway let me know how you get on with yr pizza dough recipe

Great list, would love to borrow this idea!
ReplyDeleteAnd if we may...please read our (tongue firmly in cheek post) on beating the yeast beast - this quick masala foccacia is great for yeast phobics :))

I've made foccacia twice with horrible results...very dense and chewy. I will give yours a try soon. Thx for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOkra cupcakes, Yuk!
ReplyDeleteI was kind of thinking the same thing but there is zucchini bread and that is pretty yummy so I thought okra cupcakes would be something neat to try..and my husband always wants me to make more okra :)
ReplyDeleteSalam. I have a good chicken tikka masala recipe that I'll be posting soon. Stay tuned!
